NOSFERATU Director Robert Eggers Officially Signs on for LABYRINTH Sequel — GeekTyrant Find help us

A few weeks ago it was reported that Nosferatu director Robert Eggers was going to be developing a sequel to Jim Henson’s 1986 cult fantasy movie Labyrinth. Well, today it’s been confirmed that the filmmaker has signed on to write and direct the sequel.

Eggers is writing the script with his writing partner Sjón, while Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus are producing alongside Lisa Henson. Brian Henson is executive producing.

Eggers is a great choice for this fantasy franchise and I’m incredibly excited to see what he does with the sequel. The original Labyrinth is known for its imaginative storytelling and David Bowie’s iconic performance as the Goblin King, Jareth.

The original film follows 16-year-old Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) as she navigates a magical, ever-changing maze to rescue her baby brother from Jareth’s clutches.

This was one of my favorite films as a kid and I especially love the dark fantasy element of the story, and I’m hopeing that Eggers leans into that in the sequel.

Eggers is known for his gothic, atmospheric films like The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman, and his talent for crafting visually striking, deeply immersive worlds will bring a fresh and exciting edge to the material.

What do you think about Eggers directing the Labyrinth sequel?
