2024-25 NBA MVP odds: Can Jokić catch Gilgeous-Alexander? Find help us

The NBA regular season is nearly over, which means it’s time to dive deeper into the regular-season MVP market.

As the winner of the NBA’s most coveted award in three of the last four seasons, Nikola Jokić will look to make history by winning four out of five.

Celtics legend Bill Russell won four out of five from 1960-61 to 1964-65, and LeBron James did the same between 2008-09 and 2012-13. Those are the only two names to accomplish the feat in league history.

Jokić opened the season at +400 to win the award, and currently, he is top-three in the league in points, rebounds and assists.

Let’s take a look at the NBA MVP odds at DraftKings Sportsbook as of March 8.

2024-25 NBA MVP odds:

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: -260 (bet $10 to win $13.85 total)
Nikola Jokić: +200 (bet $10 to win $30 total)

The NBA MVP race is a two-man one, and one man made ground on the other with a historic performance on Friday night.

Jokić turned in the NBA’s first ever 30-20-20 game in the Nuggets’ overtime win over the Suns on Friday — 31 points, 22 assists and 21 rebounds, to be exact.

Over the course of this week, Jokić’s odds shortened drastically. They sat at +320 on Monday and have since moved to +200.

As of March 8, the reigning MVP Jokić is averaging 28.9 points (third), 12.9 rebounds (third) and 10.6 assists (second), while shooting 57.7% from the field (10th) and 43.9% from beyond the arc (sixth).

However, despite those gaudy and historical numbers, he’s not the favorite. Gilgeous-Alexander remains in the driver’s seat, and he’s putting up some huge numbers of his own.

As of March 8, SGA’s Thunder are 52-11 on the year, the second-best record in the NBA.

Gilgeous-Alexander is first in the league in points per game (32.8) and second in steals (1.8). In three March games, SGA is averaging 41 points and 7.7 assists, while shooting 56.8% from the field.

He has 92 total points in his last two outings.
