Masterpiece on PBS has released a great first teaser trailer for the upcoming series Miss Austen, an adaptation of Gill Hornby’s bestselling novel, starring Keeley Hawes and Rose Leslie.
Set in 1830, the story “takes a literary mystery — Cassandra Austen (Hawes) notoriously burning her famous sister Jane’s letters — and reimagines it as a heart-breaking story of sisterly love.”
The series was adapted by BAFTA-winning writer, Andrea Gibb (Elizabeth is Missing), and directed by BAFTA-winner Aisling Walsh.
The cast also includes Synnøve Karlsen (Last Night in Soho), Patsy Ferran (Living), Max Irons (The Wife), Alfred Enoch (How to Get Away with Murder), Calam Lynch (Bridgerton) and Phyllis Logan (Downton Abbey).
This looks like an interesting take on the Austen women, and like it will be a wonderful story about sisters. Check out the trailer below, and watch Miss Austen when it premieres on PBS on May 4th.
