Hiro Fujiwara, best known for Kaichou wa Maid-sama! (Maid-sama!), has launched a new manga titled Neko ni Wagamama in the March issue of LaLa DX on Wednesday.
Neko ni Wagamama follows Rin, a high school student who loves cats but suffers from cat allergy, and Tachibana, her cold and distant classmate, who mysteriously turns into a cat at night. When Rin discovers an exhausted cat at a shrine, she is surprised to find that she doesn’t have an allergic reaction and decides to take it home. However, the next morning, the cat has transformed into her aloof classmate and heir to a wealthy company—Tachibana.
Alongside the new series, the issue also features a special chapter of Kaichou wa Maid-sama! that explores events before Misaki and Takumi officially became a couple.
Kaichou wa Maid-sama! ran in LaLa from December 2005 to September 2013 and was compiled into 18 volumes. LaLa DX serialized the seven-chapter side story Kaichou wa Maid-sama!: Marriage from November 2013 to April 2018. Hakusensha published the side story in a single volume in August that year, bundling a drama CD with the special edition.
J.C.Staff adapted the manga into a 26-episode television anime in Spring 2010, roughly covering the first eight volumes. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime series in North America and released it on DVD in 2011 and on Blu-ray in 2015.
Tokyopop originally released the first eight volumes in English between April 2009 and March 2011 before discontinuing publication. VIZ Media relicensed the title in July 2015 and published it in nine 2-in-1 omnibus volumes from August 2015 to August 2017.
